Grand World

📍 View on Google Maps

The "Sleepless City" (Venice Style)

Grand World is a new and exciting part of North Phu Quoc that looks just like a colorful European city. It is often called the "Sleepless City" because the fun, lights, and shopping never stop, even late at night. The most famous part of Grand World is the long water canal that looks exactly like Venice, Italy. You can sit in a wooden Gondola boat and enjoy a peaceful ride under the beautiful stone bridges. There are also many free things to see here, like the "Bamboo Legend" house, which is a massive building made from 42,000 bamboo poles! At night, the water comes alive with a huge, free fountain show called "The Colors of Venice." It is a perfect place for walking, taking bright photos, and enjoying a fun evening with your family.

There are many cafes and vegetarian-friendly snack shops nearby, and the free fountain show at night is a big hit with everyone".

04BEACHES · NATURE

Starfish Beach & Sao Beach

📍 View on Google Maps

Nature & Photos

Phu Quoc is famous for its beaches, but Sao Beach and Starfish Beach are the two most special ones to visit. Sao Beach is known for its powdery white sand and very calm, turquoise water. It is the best place to relax on a sunbed, try some water sports, or take photos on the famous coconut tree swings. On the other side of the island is Starfish Beach (Rach Vem). This is a unique spot where you can see many bright red starfish in the clear, shallow water. It has a very local feel with wooden bridges and restaurants built over the sea. Both beaches offer a peaceful escape into nature and are the best spots on the island for taking beautiful "tropical paradise" photos for your social media.

Sao Beach Location
South Phu Quoc (About 25 mins from the center)
Starfish Beach Location
North Phu Quoc (About 45 mins from the center)
Starfish Rule

"Indian families love these beaches because they are quiet, safe, and beautiful. Sao Beach has very shallow water, which is perfect for kids and seniors to swim. Seeing the red starfish at Rach Vem is a unique experience that looks amazing in family photos. Both beaches have cafes nearby that serve fresh juices and vegetarian-friendly snacks like fruit platters".

Making the Right Choice

Phu Quoc vs. Da Nang — Which One Should You Choose for Your Trip?

Both Da Nang and Phu Quoc are famous for their beaches, but they offer very different experiences. Da Nang is a modern city with great shopping and easy access to historic towns like Hoi An. Phu Quoc is a peaceful island paradise that feels more like the Maldives or Bali, with luxury resorts and huge theme parks.

FEATURE PHU QUOC (The Island Paradise) DA NANG (The Modern City)
Vibe Relaxing, quiet, and tropical High-energy, modern, and busy
Indian Food Good – Available in the main hubs Excellent – 50+ authentic restaurants
Direct Flights Connecting via HCMC or Hanoi Direct flights from Delhi & Mumbai
Stay Type Luxury beach resorts & villas High-rise hotels & city resorts
Main Sights Cable Car, Safari & Grand World Golden Bridge, Marble Mountains
Nightlife Beach clubs and night markets Fire-breathing bridges and bars
Special Note Visa-Free (for direct arrivals) Visa required (E-visa)

Which Location Is Better for Indian Families?

For Indian families who love sightseeing and shopping, Da Nang is usually the better choice. It is much easier to find Indian food for every meal, and you are very close to the airport. However, if your family loves theme parks, water parks, and seeing animals, Phu Quoc is a fantastic choice because of VinWonders and the Safari. Many families choose 3 days in Da Nang and then fly to Phu Quoc for 2 days of relaxation.

Which is Better for Honeymoon Couples?

If you are on your honeymoon, Phu Quoc is the clear winner. The island is much more romantic and private than the city. You can stay in a luxury villa with a private pool, enjoy a candle-lit dinner on the sand, and watch the best sunsets in Vietnam. It feels more like a "hidden getaway" where you can truly relax and enjoy time together away from the city noise.

💡
Pro Tip for Indian Travelers:

The Visa Hack: Phu Quoc is the only place in Vietnam where you can stay Visa-Free for 30 days IF you fly directly into the island from an international airport. If you fly via Hanoi or Saigon, you will still need a normal E-visa.

The Food Hub: In Phu Quoc, stay near Long Beach (Duong Dong) or the Grand World area. These are the two places where you will find the best Indian and vegetarian food options.

The Packing Rule: Phu Quoc is a tropical island, so it is always warm. Pack your best beach clothes and plenty of sunscreen! Unlike Sapa or Northern Vietnam, you will not need any heavy jackets here.

Food Guide for Indian Travelers

Phu Quoc offers a mix of fresh tropical fruits, clean seafood, and world-class international restaurants. For Indian travelers, the "Duong Dong" town center and the "Grand World" area are the best spots to find familiar spices. Whether you are staying at a 5-star resort or exploring the Night Market, you will find plenty of fresh, healthy, and vegetarian-friendly options on the island.

Must-Try Phu Quoc Dishes

Stirred Noodles (Bún Quậy Chay)

40,000 – 65,000 VND (~₹135 – 220)

This is Phu Quoc’s most famous signature dish. Usually made with seafood, the vegetarian version features fresh rice noodles in a clear, tasty broth with tofu and mushrooms. The "fun" part is mixing your own dipping sauce with chili, lime, and salt to match your taste.

Phu Quoc Coconut Ice Cream

35,000 – 55,000 VND (~₹120 – 190)

A must-try sweet treat! This creamy ice cream is served inside a real coconut shell and topped with peanuts and sweet corn. It is refreshing, 100% vegetarian, and the perfect way to cool down while walking through the Night Market.

Tropical Fruit Platters

50,000 – 100,000 VND (~₹170 – 340)

Phu Quoc grows some of the best fruits in Vietnam. Look for fresh Mango, Dragon Fruit, and local Pineapple. They are often served with a pinch of chili salt, which tastes very similar to the "Masala Fruit" we enjoy in India.

Veggie Spring Rolls (Chả Giò Chay)

45,000 – 80,000 VND (~₹150 – 270)

These are crispy, deep-fried rolls filled with taro, carrots, and glass noodles. They are very crunchy and served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. They are a safe and delicious snack for kids and adults alike.

Vegetarian Sour Soup (Canh Chua Chay)

50,000 – 90,000 VND (~₹170 – 300)

A refreshing southern Vietnamese soup made with pineapple, tomato, bean sprouts, and okra. It has a unique sweet and sour flavor that is very light and healthy. It goes perfectly with a bowl of plain steamed rice.

Fried Rice with Veggies (Cơm Chiên Chay)

45,000 – 90,000 VND (~₹150 – 300)

If you are looking for something safe and filling, local fried rice is the best choice. It is made with fresh peas, carrots, and tofu. It is not spicy, making it an excellent option for children or elderly parents.

Phu Quoc Pepper Coffee

35,000 – 60,000 VND (~₹120 – 200)

Phu Quoc is famous for its black pepper. Some local cafes serve a unique coffee with a tiny pinch of local pepper and sea salt. It sounds strange, but it tastes like salted caramel and is a very cool experience for coffee lovers!

Grilled Corn with Scallion Oil

20,000 – 40,000 VND (~₹70 – 140)

You will find this at every street corner. Sweet corn is grilled over charcoal and brushed with a savory oil (ask for "no fish sauce"). It is a warm, familiar snack that is perfect for an evening walk by the beach.

Important Notes for Indian Travelers:

  • The Fish Sauce Capital: Phu Quoc is where Vietnam’s fish sauce is made. While it makes local food tasty, the smell near the factories can be strong. In restaurants, always double-check by saying "Không nước mắm" (No fish sauce) to keep your meal strictly vegetarian.
  • Jain Food in Luxury Resorts: If you are staying at a 5-star resort (like Marriott or InterContinental), their chefs are very experienced with Indian guests. You can easily request Jain meals (no onion/garlic) during breakfast or dinner.
  • Indian Food in the North:If you are visiting VinWonders or the Safari, the best place for Indian food is The Delhi Heights in Grand World. It is much more convenient than traveling back to the city center for lunch.
  • Drink Fresh Coconut: Instead of sodas, try the local Phu Quoc Coconuts. They are huge, very sweet, and the safest way to stay hydrated in the tropical island heat.
