Vietnam 5 Day Itinerary for Indians — Perfect Quick Escape

March 22, 2025 7 min read By Sky Journey Tours — Da Nang, Vietnam

Five days is enough for an unforgettable Vietnam trip — if you choose the right base. Our Sky Journey Tours team in Da Nang plans this exact itinerary for Indian travelers every week. The key: use Da Nang as your base and everything is within easy day-trip reach — Ba Na Hills, Hoi An, Marble Mountains and one of Asia's finest beaches at your hotel door. No hotel changes, no internal flights.

Why Da Nang Is Perfect for a 5-Day Trip

Da Nang has a direct airport with flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore. Within 30-60 minutes are Ba Na Hills (30 km), Hoi An Ancient Town (30 km) and Marble Mountains (10 km). My Khe Beach is at your hotel door. One hotel, four unique experiences — no wasted time changing accommodation.

Before You Go — Da Nang Essentials

Day 1 — Arrive Da Nang, Evening Exploration

Da Nang Airport is brilliantly located — 10 minutes from My Khe Beach, 15 minutes from Han River city center. After hotel check-in, take a Grab to the Han River waterfront (10 minutes). Walk the riverside promenade — Dragon Bridge illuminated at night is beautiful. Saturday or Sunday: stay until 9:00 PM for the dragon fire show (15 minutes, completely free — one of Vietnam's most popular free attractions).

Dinner: Waterfront seafood restaurants on Tran Hung Dao Street (₹800-1,500 for two). For Indian food: Ganesh Restaurant near An Thuong Beach — 5 minutes by Grab. Tonight's task: confirm tomorrow's Ba Na Hills booking — 7:30-8:00 AM departure is essential.

Day 2 — Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge (Full Day)

The centerpiece of your Da Nang trip — genuinely unlike anything in the world. Full day required.

7:30 AM: Depart hotel. Arrive Ba Na Hills cable car station 8:00 AM. This timing is critical — by 10:00 AM the Golden Bridge queue for photos is 30-40 minutes. By 2:00 PM it can be over an hour. Morning light is also softer and more beautiful for photography.

8:30-10:00 AM: World-record cable car (9-minute ride with extraordinary mountain and jungle views below). Walk directly to the Golden Bridge — two giant stone hands holding a golden path in the sky above clouds. Allow 45-60 minutes for photos from multiple angles.

Photography tip: 8:00-9:30 AM has the best soft morning light from the east. 3:30-5:00 PM has warm golden afternoon light from the west. Midday overhead light photographs less beautifully.

10:00 AM-12:30 PM: French Village — cobblestone streets, cathedral, cafés and bakeries. Breakfast here (pastries and coffee genuinely good). Linh Ung Pagoda at summit — peaceful Buddhist temple with mountain views.

1:30-4:00 PM: Fantasy Park — large indoor amusement park, loved by children and adults equally. 5D cinema, drop tower, arcade games and creative themed sections.

4:00-5:30 PM: Le Jardin d'Amour — nine themed flower gardens with mountain backdrop. Excellent photos in late afternoon light. Cable car down by 5:30 PM to avoid evening queues.

Day 3 — Hoi An Ancient Town Full Day

Depart Da Nang 8:00 AM, arrive Hoi An 8:30 AM. The Ancient Town is best before 10:00 AM — tourist crowds build significantly after that.

Buy Hoi An Tourist Pass (₹250/person) at ticket offices on Tran Phu Street — covers 5 heritage sites. Must-see: Japanese Covered Bridge (go before 9:00 AM for photos without crowds), Phuc Kien Chinese Assembly Hall (one of Vietnam's most beautiful buildings — stunning red and gold architecture), Tan Ky Ancient House (7-generation family home, fascinating guided tour).

2:00-4:00 PM: Basket boat ride in the Coconut Forest — Cam Thanh Village, 10 minutes from Ancient Town. Circular bamboo basket boats spin on the water — every visitor loves this. Book official cooperative boats (better maintained than informal operators).

5:30-8:00 PM: Hoi An by lantern light — completely different atmosphere from morning. Lantern boat on Thu Bon River (₹400-600 for two, 45 minutes — magical). Dinner at Morning Glory Restaurant (Nguyen Thai Hoc Street) — excellent Vietnamese food and vegetarian options. Try Cao Lau noodles and White Rose dumplings (Hoi An specialties unavailable anywhere else in the world).

For Indian food in Hoi An: Baba's Kitchen on Phan Chu Trinh Street — genuine Indian family cooking, proper rotis and curries (₹400-600 per person).

Day 4 — Marble Mountains + My Khe Beach + Son Tra

8:00-10:00 AM: Marble Mountains — elevator up (₹30), walk through Huyen Khong Cave (sunlight streaming through ceiling hole around a Buddhist altar — genuinely extraordinary atmosphere). Am Phu Cave and panoramic terrace with views over Da Nang and My Khe Beach.

11:00 AM-1:00 PM: Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda and 67-metre Lady Buddha (tallest in Vietnam). The hilltop views over Da Nang Bay and My Khe Beach stretching to the horizon are outstanding. Peaceful, rarely crowded, beautiful garden.

2:00-6:00 PM: My Khe Beach — best section between Pullman and Mercure resort area. Forbes ranked My Khe among the world's most attractive beaches. Safe swimming (gradual slope, lifeguards in season), water temperature 28-30°C. Sun loungers available (₹100-200 from beach restaurants). Fresh coconuts on the beach ₹60. Sunset from My Khe as sun sets behind Da Nang city is beautiful — have your camera ready.

Day 5 — Morning Free + Departure

For late morning/afternoon flights: Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture (world's largest collection of Cham artifacts, fascinating and rarely crowded). Final Han River walk. Last Vietnamese iced coffee at a riverside café.

Shopping: Hoi An lanterns (available in Da Nang shops), Vietnamese cashews (excellent quality), silk scarves, custom-made shoes (Da Nang has excellent bespoke shoemakers at fair prices — allow 24 hours for a pair). Transfer to Da Nang Airport (10-15 minutes from beach hotels).

🇮🇳 Sky Journey Tours Insider Tip

If you arrive Da Nang on Day 1 afternoon and want to maximize your 5 days, do not go straight to the hotel and rest. Take a Grab to the Han River for an orientation walk even if you are a bit tired from travel. The city at night is calm and beautiful, you will get your bearings, and if it is Saturday or Sunday the Dragon Bridge fire show at 9:00 PM takes only 15 minutes and you will not see anything like it anywhere else in the world.
